Match Report:
Widnes Vikings traveled away to the Don Valley Stadium to take on the Sheffield Eagles.
Sheffield kicked off the game and for kick off the VIkings knocked on the get the first penality of the game where they pushed up towards the Widnes line.
After Scott Yates getting tackled badly after running 60 yards, Tangi Ropati got 10 minutes in the sin bin.
In the 10th minute Gareth Haggerty went over for the Vikings to open the scores, and with Shane Grady adding the extras put the score at 0-6.
In the 17th minute the Eagles hit back when MItchell Stringer went over for the home side, and converting his own try put the score even at 6-6.
After the VIkings getting a penality, brought Jim Gannon over the line to score a try, and Shane Grady added the extras once again to get the score at 6-12.
In the 25th minute Tangi Ropati went over the line for the Sheffield side after Joe Hirst passed the ball out, Brendon Lindsay add the extras to get the score even once again at 12-12.
In the 33rd minute the Eagles got a goal line drop out but due to the strong wind they gained a penality as the ball never taveled 10 metres and took the two for Mitchel Stringer to put the Sheffield side in the lead for the first time at 14-12.
In the 37th minute James Webster put a kick into the corner for Matt Gardner to score, and with Shane Grady converting for the touch line put the VIkings back into the lead at 14-18.

In the 45th minute Menzie Yere went over in the corner for the home side, the conversion was missed to get the score even again at 18-18. In the 49th minute Craig Cook scored for the Eagles and with Mitchel Stringer adding the extras put the score at 24-18.
After a penality in the 57th minute for the Sheffield side, Mitchel Stringer converted to two to put the score at 26-18.
In the 59th minute the Vikings hit back when Jim Gannon went over the line, and with Shane Grady adding the extras put the score at 26-24.
In the 61st minute Anthony Thackeray went over the line for Widnes after a 40-20 and with Shane Grady adding the extras put the Vikings up to 26-30.
In the 66th minute the Vikings got a penality after a fight broke out, they took the two and Shane Grady madenit successful to get the score at 26-32.
In the 72nd minute Matt Gardner scored for the Vikings and with Shane Grady adding the extras for the side put the score at 26-38. And in the 74th minute James Webster took another try for the Vikings and with Shane Grady yet again converting put the score at 26-44.
In the 72nd minute Sheffield hit back when Tangi Ropati scored in the corner, the conversion was unsucessful to get the score at 30-44. |
