Sunday 21st February brought the Vikings over the the lions
at Swinton for another game of the northern rail Cup.
Shane grady kicked off towards the Swinton side to get the
game under way.
The Switon lions opened up in the 2nd minute with a try from
Richie Hawkyark, and with ex Widnes player Gavin Dodd
converting put them up 6-0.
In the 8th minute the Vikings hit back with toa kohe love pushed
over the line, sadly Shane Grady missed the conversion just short
of the touch to get the score 6-4.
Matt Gardner got his try after a break from Shane Grady in the
11th minute, and Shane Grady also added the extras to get the
score at 6-10.
In the 18th minute Gavin Dodd scored in the corner after the ball
was kept alive by this team mates, he did not convert this own try
this put the score even at 10-10.
In the 22nd minute James ford went off after a leg injury.
In the 27th minute Shane Grady scored after a run down the wing,
sadly the conversion hit the post and missed but put the Viking
back in the lead at 10-14.
In the 33rd minute Gavin Dodd got Swinton 2 point after successful
converting a penalty to get the score at 12-14.
In the 37th minute Shaun Ainscough took the ball from a one on one
to dance his way to his try for the Vikings, Shane Grady added the
extra to get the score at 12-20.
Half time
in the 51st minute Toa Kohe Love scored for the Vikings, Shane Grady
adding the extra out the score at 12-26.
Just after mark smith scored under the sticks after running half the
pitch after a break in 53rd minue, Shane Grady adding the extras put
the score at 12-32.
In the 75th minute Anothony Thackery scored in the corner for Widnes,
sadly no conversion from Shane Grady but the score was now at 12-36.
